We are very glad and happy in introducing ourselves as one of the eminent Non Government Organisation founded by Mr. A.P. Joseph, a dedicated Social Worker in the year 1992.
IRDC was registered under the Registration of Societies Act in the year 1992.
IRDC started functioning at Muthirayarpalayam, Puducherry, and South India as a legally registered organization recognized by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Puducherry in a rented house with three Mentally Challenged children.
Our founder Mr. A.P. Joseph started Baby Sarah’s Home as a unit of IRDC (Integrated Rehabilitation & Development Centre) in the year 1995 with the support of many generous hearted donors.
We were shifting from one place to another place periodically due to the lack of our own building and in the year 2000, our founder with the help of many people purchased a land for our Organisation in Ariyankuppam, Puducherry and in the same year construction was started and in the year 2004, Baby Sarah’s Home started functioning in its own permanent building with greater freedom and this enabled us to extend our service by in taking many mentally challenged and orphan children..
Mostly we get children from parents who are poor, low socio economic status and unhealthy, relatives, police station, child welfare committee, social welfare department, volunteers and donors
During this time, special school for the empowerment of our mentally challenged children was started with one special educator and all our orphan children were placed in government schools for the regular education
Gradually the strength was increasing and also we started in taking orphan children to provide them the basic needs and education opportunity.
Now, the Special School for our Mentally Challenged children is functioning as a dynamic department headed by a qualified and experienced Special educator and assisted by Social workers, Physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, Music tutor, Yoga Practice, vocational trainers and care givers and with all these experts, our special school functioning as a complete and resourceful department.
The goal of our Organisation is to work for the welfare of Persons with Disabilities and Orphan children and also to provide them shelter, clothing, medical assistance, educational opportunity, vocational training and opportunity to realization and utilization of their innate potentialities.
Ultimate goal of our Organisation is to enable the special children and orphan children to be independent and to lead their life on their own and to become as a self sustainable individual in the society and also equip them in such a way that they can contribute to their society and nation in future.
